Matrix Shafts OZIK Black Tie Series Finishes Victorious in Phoenix Read More...
Feb. 03. 2014

Anaheim,CA- Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the winner of the Waste Management Phoenix Open who used a Black Tie series shaft in his Callaway 4-wood, to take the win on Sunday.

The Black Tie series is no stranger to the winner’s spotlight, having numerous PGA Tour victories since its release in January 2012, including one Major. This low-launching, low-spinning shaft is often preferred by players with higher ball speed and who prefer additional stability in the tip section. Designed on the industry leading and patented HD platform, the Black Tie series has proven to be the tightest design construct ever released by the Matrix R&D team.

“The Matrix Tour team is excited to add another victory to the 2014 season,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “The Black Tie series of shafts continues to be one of the top shaft models players on the PGA Tour continue to ask for week after week, and we look forward to watching the numbers continue to grow as we move further into the season.”

The Black Tie series expanded its line last fall with the release of the hM3 Altus Black Tie. Offering the same low launch, low spin ball flight as the M3 Black Tie, the hM3 Altus Black Tie brings the same performance and structure characteristics from the wood line, into the MFS Altus hybrid series.

Matrix Shafts Introduces the New OZIK Altus MFS Series Read More...
Aug. 28. 2013

Anaheim,CA-In January, Matrix Shafts brought to the market the Matrix Flight System, a fitting solution for wood shafts created to simplify the fitting process for tour players, club builders and tour reps alike. Representing the three different launch profiles-low, mid and high- the Matrix Flight System consists of the OZIK M3 Black Tie, the OZIK Q3 Red Tie, and the OZIK X3 White Tie.

This concept was so widely accepted from dealers and players all over the world, that Matrix didn’t want to stop with just the woods.  Expanding from the multiple major winning OZIK Altus series, the Matrix R&D team, led by Chief Designer Daniel You, created the OZIK Altus MFS Series.

The OZIK Altus MFS Series mirrors the same launch profiles of the MFS wood line, and consists of the low-launching, low-spinning OZIK HM3 Altus, the mid-launching, mid-spinning OZIK HQ3 Altus, and the high-launching, low-spinning OZIK HX3 Altus.  The line also cosmetically mirrors the Matrix Flight System woods, represented with the same black, red and white base coats.

“The OZIK Altus is a shaft that players are turning to in their hybrids week after week,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “On the PGA Tour it was the most used hybrid model in 2011, 2012 and up to this date in the current 2013 season, which says a lot about its quality and reputation. The new Altus MFS Series now provides us with an Altus series shaft that can fit every player in the bell curve.”

The X3 Altus made its PGA Tour debut last week at The Barclays, with the Q3 Altus set to make its PGA Tour debut in the 2014 season. The Altus MFS Series shafts are currently stocked in a number of hybrid clubs, including Adams IDEA Super DHY. Matrix Introduces Velox Speed Shaft Read More...
Sep. 30. 2013

Matrix Shafts Introduces Velox Speed Shaft

Anaheim, CA- Matrix Shafts introduces Velox, the latest modern design concept developed by the Matrix R&D team and led by Chief Designer Daniel You. Velox joins the long list of premium woods shafts offered by Matrix, and is categorized as a speed shaft designed to obtain maximum head speed and control at impact.

Capitalizing on an innovative breakthrough in Matrix's DE Curve design technique, the Velox family optimizes the flex profile of each shaft for the players swing speed. The rate change of the flex profile and curvature during the swing were evaluated and matched to the different speed ranges, maximizing head speed.

Within the Velox family there are two versions, Velox St representing the “Tour” versionand Velox Sp,representing the “Player” version. The Velox St model is designed for standard tour type builds, and is for the player who wants to add to club head speed while maintaining control and workability. The Velox Sp model represents the new generation of clubs that are built longer and with shallower aerodynamic heads. This version maximizes speed and allows for standard swing weights with longer builds.

The Velox cosmetics feature a premium blue/chrome silver color scheme, with speed categories shown in replacement of traditional flexes. A visual representation of the DE curve is also shown to differentiate each speed model. The “Tour” version, Velox St, will be priced at $375 while the “Players” version, Velox Sp, is available at $275.

Matrix Shafts Announces Release of OZIK Q3 Red Tie Read More...
Jan. 09. 2013

Anaheim,CA- Matrix Shafts is pleased to announce the release of the OZIK Q3 Red Tie, the final shaft in the new Matrix Flight System. This evolutionary design resonates from the highly successful OZIK HD series, which was the #1 shaft model on the PGA Tour in 2011. The Q3 Red Tie is designed to increase stability and accuracy, resulting in a higher ball speed than ever before in our mid-launching, mid-spinning shafts.

Chief Designer of R&D, Daniel You, wanted to bring this model to a whole new performance level, taking his time to perfect the design to the very last detail.

“We had such great success with the HD series that we wanted to modify the structure to make it even better,” said Chief Designer of R&D, Daniel You. “This shaft profile fits fifty percent of all golfers, so we have had them in mind from the beginning planning stages of the Q3 to bring them something they have never seen before. We are confident that golfers who played the HD series will be very happy with the Q3 and what it will add to their golf game.”

The release of the mid-launching, mid-spinning Q3 Red Tie now  joins the low-launching, low-spinning M3 Black Tie, and the high-launching, low-spinning X3 White Tie, to complete the Matrix Flight System.

The OZIK Q3 Red Tie will be making its debut at the 2013 PGA Show in Orlando, at the end of the month.

Matrix OZIK XCON Played by AT&T Championship Winner Read More...

Matrix OZIK XCON Played by AT&T Championship Winner

Anaheim, CA-Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the Champions Tour AT&T Championship winner who used the OZIK XCON in his TaylorMade RBZ 5-wood.

The OZIK XCON was the first true high-launching, low-spinning shaft that was introduced in the golf industry. While some said this flight profile was impossible to construct, Chief Designer Daniel You and the Matrix R&D team were able to successfully do so by using different forms of technology along the X-Axis Control. The X-Axis Control provides the ability to independently control launch and spin characteristics. While other shaft manufacturers continue to try and reach this type of profile, few have been able to successfully do so.

The XCON was replaced by the X3 White Tie this past fall, but still continues to be a popular shaft model on all tour levels.  The newer version, the OZIK X3 White Tie performs with the same high-launch, low-spin flight characteristics as the XCON, and is part of the new Matrix Flight System shafts. Nov. 25. 2013

Anaheim, CA-Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the individual winner of the World Cup of Golf who took the win in Australia this weekend. The player used the OZIK TP7HD in his TaylorMade R1 driver, as well as in his TaylorMade RocketBallz 4-wood.

With our new product being launched on tour at the Frys.com in October, and now a win to add to the books, the 2014 season is off to a great start.”

Matrix Shafts Releases OZIK X3 White Tie Read More...
Nov. 19. 2012

Anaheim, CA- The highly anticipated OZIK X3 White Tie has officially launched at Matrix Shafts. Originally introduced on tour at The Byron Nelson earlier this year as a prototype, the OZIK X3 White Tie has since undergone further improvements to the cosmetic design and structure.

The OZIK X3 is the next generation XCON performing with the same high launching, low spinning characteristics. MATRIX took the design of the XCON and found a way to increase the stability and provide a tighter feel through the shaft in the OZIK X3, without having to increase the overall weight. The OZIK X3 also differs from the XCON by having a progressively linear graduation at impact, making it more efficient in energy, travel and transfer, resulting in higher ball speed.

The X3 White Tie is the second part of the three part series of the new Matrix Flighting System, with the final structure being released at the PGA Show in January.

“The OZIK X3 had a great introduction on tour earlier this year and I am very pleased with the final product,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “We have seen such success on tour with the release of the OZIK M3 Black Tie earlier this year that I am only confident that we will continue to see great things in 2013 as we complete the new flight system.”

OZIK XCON Played by Senior Players Championship Winner Read More...
Jul. 01. 2013

Anaheim, CA- Matrix Shafts had a great weekend across the different tour levels by not only being played by the LPGA U.S. Open Women’s Champion, but also the winner of the Constellation Senior Players Championship. This first major title winner played an OZIK XCON in his TaylorMade RBZ 5-wood.

The OZIK XCON was the first true high-launch, low-spin shaft introduced in the golf industry. The X-CON, which refers to the X-Axis control, provides the ability to independently control launch and spin characteristics. To date, other manufacturers have only been able to construct high-launch and high-spin or low-launch and low-spin without difficulty. The X-CON designs bring maximum performance in high MOI clubheads and stable feel for all players.

The OZIK XCON is now considered a Matrix Legacy shaft since it was replaced by the OZIK X3 White Tie last fall. The OZIK X3 White Tie is the third model in the Matrix Flight System and performs with the same high-launch, low-spin flight characteristics as the XCON. U.S. Women’s Open Champion Plays Matrix Radix in Hybrid Read More...
Jul. 01. 2013

Anaheim, CA- Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the winner of the U.S. Women’s Open Championship, who played a Radix in her TaylorMade RBZ hybrid, capturing her third straight major title.

The Matrix Radix is a well-known shaft model, not only for its bright cosmetics, but for its performance capabilities. The Radix, meaning “base” or “root” in Latin, was released in 2011 and is based with the HD Design technology. The HD Design provides the RADIX an internal structure so advanced that it stands apart from all others in its class. With its 16-sided internal structure, which is visible without the grip, Matrix engineers were able to strengthen the shaft without adding any weight. In the Radix, the Matrix R&D team introduced an experiment variable tip-to-butt ratio design. The ratio specs change by flex—meaning the ball flight lowers as flex stiffens, adjusting for the needs of progressively harder swingers.

“Players continue to trust Matrix in the bag week after week, and this is a great win to add to our already successful year” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “In 2013 we have seen players using Matrix at the top of the leaderboard almost every week across the different tour levels, most recently in the bag of the U.S. Open Champion.  We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Matrix team as we continue to bring out new products to tour later this year.”

The original Radix, played by this U.S. Women’s Open winner, has since been replaced with the RadixS, which was released this year as a follow up structure to the successful line. The RadixS woods are silver, while the irons are a dark grey.

The Matrix OZIK Altus Leads as #1 Hybrid Shaft Model on the PGA Tour Read More...
Jul. 15. 2013

Anaheim, CA-The Matrix OZIK Altus has had some memorable moments over the past few years, being played in the bags of many champions on the various tour levels. Introduced to the market in 2007, players can’t seem to get enough of this mid-high launching shaft and trust the Altus in their bags week-after-week at tournaments all over the world.

This OZIK Altus hype doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, gaining popularity every year- specifically on the PGA Tour.  According to the Darrell Survey report, the OZIK Altus was not only the most used hybrid shaft on the PGA Tour in 2011 and 2012, but also up to this date in the 2013 tour season.

“The Matrix R&D team did a fantastic job with the design structure of this shaft,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “Once a player starts using the Altus in their hybrid, you don’t often see it leave the bag. It is a shaft model that players trust to get them to the green, and know it will show the same great results, everytime.”

The Matrix R&D team plan to expand the Altus hybrid line, introducing a Fitting Solution that mirrors the Matrix Flight System, at the end of the month.

Matrix OZIK RUL in the Bag of Senior British Open Champions Read More...

Matrix OZIK RUL in the Bag of Senior British Open Champion

Anaheim, CA- Matrix Shafts has been on a winning streak over the past several months, being played by the winners of several Majors on the various tour levels. As of Sunday Matrix can add another “W” to the long list of wins for 2013, when the Senior British Open Champion played the OZIK RUL in his TaylorMade R11 driver.

“We have had a great season this year on all tour levels,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “Matrix continues to grow in recognition all over the world and with that our shaft count continues to grow at each event. Players trust Matrix to show them the consistent results they desire to put them at the top of the leaderboard, and that’s what we are seeing week after week--winning results. With a few months left in the 2013 season, as well as the introduction of new product on tour, I’m very excited about what’s in store as we finish out the year.”

The OZIK RUL is a mid-launching, mid-spinning shaft that incorporates Matrix’s Asymmetric Crossply Technology (ACT), enhancing the shaft’s ability to recover quickly prior to impact without increasing torque, while at the same time increasing tip velocity. Designs utilizing ACT Technology feature a more active feel without sacrificing stability, resulting in greater distance without a loss of accuracy. Additionally, ACT maximizes club head acceleration producing greater potential tip velocity. This is especially effective for today’s modern fairway metals. Widely used on the PGA Tour, OZIK RUL has fast become one of the best-selling shafts in the golf industry.

“At the Majors, you have the best of the best competing,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “It’s a battle, and the fact that players trust Matrix in the bag as they go into these Major tournaments and are winning says a lot about our brand. It’s not just one tour level that we are seeing Matrix players in the top of the leaderboard, it’s on all of them. As we continue to bring new product to the market and fit players with what they are asking for, I am confident we will only continue to add more “W’s” to the list.”

OZIK M3 Black Tie Played by U.S. Open Champion in Driver and 3-Wood Read More...
Jun. 17. 2013

Anaheim, CA- Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the U.S. Open Champion who trusted the OZIK M3 Black Tie in his TaylorMade R1 driver and TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Tour 3-wood, to win his first Major.

Introduced as the next gen to the successful M2 series, and the first model of the Matrix Flight System, the low-launching, low-spinning OZIK M3 Black Tie is designed on the industry leading and patented HD platform. This HD Design technology refers to the hexadecagonal (16-sided) internal platform on which the shaft design is built. Using the HD technology, the Matrix R&D team was able to reach new levels of structural strength in the shaft, providing additional stability in the tip section, without adding to the overall weight. With its flat, lower spinning ball flight, it is often preferred by players with higher ball speeds. This is the fourth victory for the OZIK M3 Black Tie this year.

“Having a first place finish, especially at a Major, is very exciting,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera.  “The Matrix Flight System shafts continue to be models that the players are asking for and relying on week after week. The Matrix R&D team did a fantastic job with the design of the Matrix Flight System shafts and we are confident that we will continue to see more wins with the M3 Black Tie, Q3 Red Tie, and X3 White Tie as the season continues.”

The OZIK M3 Black Tie joins the mid-launching, mid-spinning Q3 Red Tie, and high-launching, low-spinning X3 White Tie to complete the Matrix Flight System. Contact your nearest Matrix Dealer for more info.

Anaheim, CA-Congratulations to the winner of the European Tour’s Volvo Match Play, who used an OZIK Altus in his Adams hybrid to take the win on Sunday.

The OZIK Altus is no stranger to the spotlight, having been the most used shaft model on the PGA Tour 18 times in 2012, and 10 times so far this tour season.  The Altus’ superior design and advanced use of multiple technologies enable this mid-launching, mid-spinning shaft to perform and show the results that the players on the professional level desire. Another, CFI Technology provides consistency, while the AVF technology design uses the shafts butt section to create a bigger fulcrum, allowing greater launch and spin control.

“Players need to be able to trust their hybrid shaft to be able to give the results that they need to make it down the fairway,” said Director of Tour Operations, Joe Miera. “The Altus is a really well designed shaft and gives the players the control and consistency they desire, it’s no surprise that we keep seeing big numbers from it.”

Anaheim, CA-Matrix Shafts would like to congratulate the second place finisher at the Frys.com Open, who used the OZIK Black Tie M3 in his driver and 3-wood, to tie for the second place spot on Sunday. The OZIK Black Tie M3 is one of Matrix new designs for 2012 and resonates from the flight model of the highly successful M2 series. Players with a higher ball speed prefer this low launching, low spinning shaft in their game and the M3 continues to prove itself by showing winning results week after week.

The OZIK ALTUS was also once again the most used hybrid shaft  at the Fry’s.com Open, bringing the count to thirteen as most used hybrid shaft on the PGA Tour for 2012.

“It was a great round overall for this long time Matrix user,” said Director of Tour Operation, Joe Miera. “Players on the tour trust Matrix week after week because we produce shafts that really show results. The Matrix R&D team did a great job with the Black Tie M3, and they continue to raise the bar in the golf industry with each new product that is released.”

Mizuno Selects Matrix OZIK Program 130 Iron Shafts For Custom Fitting Read More...
Aug. 31. 2012

Anaheim, CA-Matrix Shafts is proud to announce the inclusion of the OZIK Program 130 iron shaft as a standard offering in Mizuno's Performance Fitting System. The OZIK Program 130 through Mizuno will be available on September 10th.

Introduced in early 2011, the OZIK Program series has been played by some of the best players in the world and has shown extreme success on tour since its inception. The OZIK Program HD iron shafts are the first iron structures in golf to incorporate HD technology. After advanced DE analysis of the leading steel iron shafts, Matrix engineers discovered inefficiencies that are manifested in shaft instability and dispersion. To combat this inefficiency Matrix head of R&D Daniel You, engineered the OZIK Program HD iron shaft to be more stable and launch progressively higher as you get into the longer irons. Additionally, OZIK Program HD irons are designed to add 12% more spin to offset the loss in spin rate caused by the new USGA groove rule.

Matrix Shafts Continues to Increase Count on Tour Read More...
Jul. 11. 2012

Anaheim, CA- In this 2012 PGA Tour season MATRIX Shafts continues to outpace the 2011 campaign by achieving remarkable gains. MATRIX has increased its shaft count in 83% of the tournaments so far for this year. As MATRIX continues to cater to what the PGA Tour players are asking for and creating designs such as the OZIK Black Tie M3, OZIK Altus and the OZIK TP7HD, we are continuing to see winning results week after week. Not all of these gains are due to newly released products. Although the longest tenured on tour, the OZIK Altus is one shaft in particular that has stood out this year, having been the most used shaft eight times on the PGA Tour so far, most recently at the Greenbrier Classic. This is an exciting time for MATRIX Shafts as we continue to see winning results on the PGA Tour and are now expanding our reach into the European Tour starting this week at the Scottish Open.

"MATRIX Shafts has had an exceptional year thus far and I am proud of all the hard work from the MATRIX team," said Director of Tour Operations Joe Miera. "As we continue to cater to what the players are asking for and create winning products, I am confident we will continue to see great things as we finish out the PGA Tour season."
